Can you complete nqt year abroad

It was demanding, just like back home, but it allowed me to continue to learn and maintain the same high standards as teaching in the UK. Kuwait is very, very different to the UK. It has absolutely incredible saving potential especially now due to the post Brexit exchange rate! Workload is less but the standards are kept fairly high. Quality of life is better but Kuwait is quite expensive to live in.

There are compromises to make professionally lack of access to resources, some cultural barriers, parent culture but generally speaking, I love it. I have no regrets at all about moving abroad. The above reasons and there are many more! My decision to accept a job offer at a British school abroad was taken after months of research and consideration re: my options, conversations with staff currently working at the school etc.

Local International Schools more closely reflect the local culture and teachers are advised to make full use of the Edvectus Learning Portal to access videos and documents created by our Middle East office to prepare before you go. Although all or most subjects are taught in English, Local International schools have a high proportion of English Language learners. Teaching children who are learning English requires a modified approach so we recommend that newly qualified teachers visit the Learning Portal to access tips to help you succeed.

Schools that have a more modest fee structure are usually more willing to hire new teachers, and their salaries will reflect their lower cost basis. For most international schools, having 2 or more years of solid, consistent teaching experience in the subject and level for which you are applying is a minimum requirement. BSK is part of the Nord Anglia school group which is a reputable group of schools globally. It has excellent facilities, they achieve high results and they support their staff with active community groups and social events.

Another trait of the school is that they hire NQTs. They took 29 NQTs starting in September There is a strong mentoring system in place for the NQTs. With large departments, for example, 15 maths teachers in the maths department, there are also people around to mentor and support the more recent teachers. Schools that are happy to engage NQTs fresh out of their training recognise their enthusiasm and that they have lots to offer both in-class and in extracurriculars.

Empowering new members of staff to contribute their fresh ideas in our large Year Group and Subject Teams, brings with it significant value. Thinking of taking your NQT abroad? Sign up to Teacher Horizons for access and support in getting your international teaching career off to the best start! In some cases, a fourth term is provided by appropriate bodies in international British schools, if the NQT needs an additional term of support.

After the final assessment in the last term, the induction mentor must inform the appropriate body that the NQT has met all of the teaching standards or not. Then the appropriate body evaluates if the NQT has fulfilled the necessary criteria to pass the induction period and will contact the NQT mentor to approve the decision.

She also runs the Empowering Expat Teachers community, which can be found on her blog. Sponsored by Tes resources. What is an NQT induction? Can I do my NQT induction abroad? Do many international schools take on NQTs? What will differ from doing my induction in the UK? How long will the induction take?
