Anonymous answered. The paint on your car is baked on. The paint thinner will not remove the paint but it will remove road tar. My old boss who used to be a auto painter had me use it on his truck to get other paint off it worked great I can only guess that your clear coat protects damage.

I checked this out just to make sure and figured I would add my own exp. I'm going to use on my truck tommorow but only on the bottom where the road sludge is. I used it to remove road marking line paint and it worked fine. It did not damage the vehicle paint. Paint thinner should not do anything to your paint we use it all the time at my shop to remove pin striping.
