Why doesnt r truth have music
In fact, the only time fans would get more riled up was when Rude's music would shut off and he prepared to address them. The juxtaposing reactions to Rude, and '80s heels of his caliber, speak to a growing trend in WWE amongst some of the more successful heels of the present day. It can be argued, almost unequivocally, that the hottest heel in pro wrestling right now is R-Truth.
Truth went from a dancing, rapping, mid-carder who personified the variety show entertainment mold of today's pro wrestling or at least what it's aspiring to be , to a demonic and delusional street thug who suddenly finds himself in the World Championship discussion. Time was, R-Truth would get crowds excited up with his catchy "What's Up!
Truth had a niche, and it earned him a safe spot in the mid card for years. The formula was somewhat messed with in , when Truth came out with a new single to perform on a weekly basis.
But after turning heel at the expense of John Morrison weeks ago on a RAW show from the O2 arena, Truth has not used or performed theme music of any kind.
The eerie, yet obnoxious absence of music in place of Truth's raspy voice cutting a cold promo has helped garner some of the most effective heel reactions at WWE live events.
Truth's sudden lack of theme music, while novel, isn't all that new. The largely underutilized art form was reinvigorated by Vickie Guerrero, who has long since been regarded as the best non-wrestling heel in the business.
Guerrero's two-word verbal introduction of "Excuse Me" is enough to illicit more boos than a Philadelphia sports arena. Theme music be damned. Everything I went through back then, it helped make me stronger.
It helped me find different emotions. The flirtation with failure only strengthened Killings. He has also had runs with the United States championship and the tag title with Kofi Kingston.
All along, he looked at the landscape in WWE. He wanted to add to the show by being himself, a role he has perfected as R-Truth. I mean, you can make people mad. People do that all the time. Someone can make their neighbor mad by walking to the mailbox. I want to do something else. I want to pull out different emotions. You see a lot of Ron Killings in R-Truth. And what people are watching right now is a combination of all my years and lessons.
Yet no matter what happened in the prior segments, there is always reason to watch when R-Truth steps onto the screen. But even more impressive than the number of title reigns is the manner in which he took a belt that was universally criticized upon its May debut and turned it into a valuable part of the show.
Killings and his wife of 10 years, Pamela, are devoted parents to their five children. She has that ability to connect and make people laugh without even saying a word. They are my energy source. They push me to be a better wrestler, a better rapper and a better person. Greatness is often accomplished in the world of pro wrestling through a world title run.
Although Killings has had a stretch with the NWA gold, the chance to hold a top WWE championship—potentially even upending close friend Roman Reigns for his universal championship—could forever change his career, in addition to being must-see viewing.
I can still go in the ring. There is a lot more I can do, too. In addition to adding levity to WWE programming—who else could bring a ladder to the Royal Rumble match? His newest album, Legacy , will be released later this year. People that know me know that I rap. They made me. So my goal is to make R-Truth fans into Ron Killings fans.
