What should i do in mendoza
Source: flickr. You can spend the evening in family-run farms or larger vineyards that provide all of your meals and a few tastings of wine. Options range from a more intimate four-bedroom micro-bodega like Posada Finca Garciarena to the larger Cavas Wine Lodge with its private villas and spa. Club Tapiz is also a historic estancia where you can stay and lounge by the pool with a bottle of wine.
Tip : View available Wine Tours. Source: mendoza-andes. You can take a casual ride through the vineyards or you can explore the base of the Andes and even farther. Source: tripadvisor. A popular sport in the Andes, if you want a little adrenaline rush you can go paragliding just outside of Mendoza. This is the largest green space and plaza in the city center of Mendoza, so spend some time relaxing and people-watching in this popular socializing area.
There are four other secondary plazas all within two blocks of Plaza Independencia which you should explore as well. However, many of the restaurants here cater to tourists with their higher prices and often lower quality , so you may want to venture down a side street before having an elaborate meal. The scenery is spectacular and the route is about 16 kilometers 10 miles round-trip to and from Confluencia.
This national park is about two and a half hours from Mendoza, and it covers 75, hectares of land and amazing mountains. Visitors can see the excavated ruins of the former cabildo town council of Mendoza which was destroyed by an earthquake in After that the town was relocated to the southwest its current location , and the museum shows the progressions of Mendoza from settlement onwards through a series of murals.

Suggested tour: River Rafting in the Mendoza Rapids. Cordillera Vinos y Fuegos offers steaks in addition to lots of other upscale dishes, along with a wine room, elegant atmosphere, and outdoor seating. Along the way there are plenty of places to stop for photos, buy snacks from vendors, and purchase souvenirs. Half way we made a break to see a little waterfall and have some local fruit Silvio brought.
Our tour pickup from Mendoza downtown began at am and we headed back from the hot springs at pm. I would suggest having a lite meal before the tour or bringing a snack. First ride is in a mini bus and it picks up people for various tours in the same area.
First guide spoke only Spanish and gave instructions on how to split towards following tours. We didn't speak spanish but easily found our next wan towards rafting. Our rafting guide Silvio greeted us and hepled us get ready. All the equipment was provided and we were given thorough instructions. After changing into wet suites we proceed to the boarding location by the river via van.
This is the fastest rafting in mendoza, btw L3 and L4. However, I feel anyone in decent physical condition can do it.
Silvio asked if anyone had any previous injuries or has any issues and sorted us on the raft accordingly. He lets people switch in the front during the rafting so everyone can get some splash time if they wish. Going down the river was extremely fun. Sections of calm water and rapids were one after another. All but my wife and my self were argentinians but Silvio was giving instructions both in Spanish and English as needed.
It was a great experience, my wife loved it. After rafting we proceeded to thermal spa. Several pools of different depths and water temperature.
Very nice place to relax. Food and souvenirs are available for purchase. You fb pick a time to do a zipline over the small canyon next to the spa. Instructors were very nice and helped us get comfortable with the equipment. First is a smaller zipline across the canyon, then a climb up hill to the top and a faster and longer zipline.
It was fun. At the end of the day we met our driver at the spa entrance and he took us to the mini bus meting spot. All together it was a very fun tour and I'd recommend it.
Our guide Gabby not only spoke perfect English, she grew up in Mendoza and provided a wealth of knowledge from personal experience and wine training. The biggest problem in Mendoza is choosing the best wine tour among the plethora of offered tours. The tour consisted of four unique wineries and a five-course lunch at the third one. Thanks Gabby! I can highly recommend this tour.
We had an awesome day in the Andes. We were picked up at the hotel early in the morning. We received a lot of information about Mendoza and the area around during the trip. The Guide spoke great english and was absolutely attentive. After reaching the ranch we got some information about the horses and how to ride. We rode for 3,5h trough the Andes and reached an height from m. In the middle of the ride we've stoppt for a break and had a snack and wine plus we saw 7 condor.
The BBQ after the ride was fantastic there was tons of meat, salad and vegetables and of course wine. He was able to make alternative plans on the fly when we determined that one or two of the wineries were not in the region we wanted to visit. Our driver was very friendly and flexible with the itinerary. The wineries we did visit were highly satisfactory.
Our driver, Damian, also drove all the way back into Mendoza to return a phone I accidentally left behind. Very positive and I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in a Mendoza style wine drinking tour. It is important for visitors to realize that you will likely only visit three wineries with tours but the hospitality will be warm.
Mendoza: A full day experience in private to know the most exclusive wineries. This full day took us through this beautiful part of Argentina, to see how these fabulous wines are made, to meet the people working the vineyards and to taste the wine and food that are Argentina. To appreciate the world of wine and food in Argentina, this tour is a must.
All arrangements were as described and planned, but the experience is way more than words can describe. My daughter and I enjoyed the experience immensely, as amateur cooks and wine enthusiasts. Our guide, Alex, and the driver, Miguel, were friendly, courteous, attentive, and knowledgeable of all things about Mendoza, given that they grew up and studied there of course, the university there has an oenology program.
We used the full package, with Viator handling the airplane tickets there was no problem at the airports, either leaving or returning bring your passport. We took the tour the first full day in Argentina, so were able to know what wines we would order for the rest of our fabulous stay here and what we would bring home and then seek out when we returned home.
Buen provecho! The tour was great There was confusion with the tour because the guide did a great job arranging for us to go to Luyan - however, the tour was supposed to be to Uco valley The tour started out with a visit to Bodega Tempus Alba, a boutique winery in every sense. Our guide Amir who took the English-speaking tour was fantastic. He introduced the group to the philosophy underpinning the wineries approach to perfecting the grapes grown onsite. He was kind, sincere and most importantly knew what he was talking about.
After leading our group through a tour of the winery and explaining the nuts and bolts of the wine making process, he stepped the group through four tastings. While some people on the tour knew almost nothing about wine, a few people knew some things about wine, and myself a bit more, Amir ensured everyone was comfortable and was happy to answer any questions. I purchased a bottle of their flagship wine Vero Malbec after I was offered a tasting not included as part of the tour, but no charge to tour guests.
This was a perfect way to start the day. Highly recommend Tempus Alba. The next stop was the olive oil factory. This was pleasant, informative and a welcome addition to the tour. The host was friendly and was happy to answer questions. The third stop was Bodega Luigi Bosca. The wines are ok, but nothing spectacular. Strangely during a set tasting our group was poured the sparkling white after trying three red wines.
Classic mistake. There was also a white wine offered to begin with, don't know what type of wine it was as it wasn't offered to me, but it was offered to others in the group What was even weirder was I asked if they offer tastings on the Cabernet Franc which they did Then I asked to try the Cabernet Bouchet, which they sell but don't offer tastings. To cap it off, I purchased a bottle of wine for approx.
Disappointing after such as great experience at Tempus Alba. Lunch was a relaxing event, offering four courses with matching wines including options for vegetarians. This was a nice way to finish the day and capped off what was all up an enjoyable day trip from Mendoza. The tour host Anita Ana was lovely, great fun and can speak multiple languages.
I highly recommend the tour for people starting out with wine knowledge or those looking to learn a bit more. Our tour guide was excellent, fluent in both English and Spanish and providing detailed information on all the wineries and Mendoza region in general.
I and my family is highly satisfied with this particular tour. Timing, winery selection and the lunch offered were great! I'd definitely recommend this tour and in case of a chance will take it again! Our guide, Martin, was very knowledgeable about the history and legends of the Andes which he shared in English and Spanish.
You cannot go to Mendoza without visiting the Andes, and this tour is the perfect way to do it! The scenery was magnificent! Our driver, Daniel, was also excellent. The pick up at our hotel was on time and the tour bus was comfortable. The buffet lunch was reasonably priced and very good. I highly recommend this tour - you won't be disappointed!
But the topper for us was our ride up a steep dirt mountain road with numerous switchbacks to visit the Christ the Redeemer of the Andes on the border of Chile and Argentina, which is at 12, ft.
This was the highlight of our short trip to Mendoza. We were picked up at our hotel at the appointed hour on a beautiful day, and off we went toward the Chilean border in a clean, modern Mercedes Sprinter bus with about 20 others.
This was the same route that my spouse and I drove by bus the day before coming to Mendoza, so we had some concern about having seen it already. No worries necessary - our guide was excellent in explaining the various features of the land, from vineyards to volcanoes. We stopped at various scenic points along the way, including a place to take a nice picture of Aconcagua mountain.
The degree view from there was beyond spectacular! It truly made our Andean trip perfect. Afterwards we stopped for an optional lunch at the restaurant at the entry arch. It was a buffet, good portions, and was reasonably priced at US We also visited the Inca Bridge and other places on the route program. Our guide was very good. We were the only English speakers on a full bus, and he never failed to provide us with his full commentary, and took time to answer questions for us with his fluent English.
Throughout he was careful for his tour group, ensuring all were well-informed at each stop, present before departure, and provided personal attention at the various stops. Our driver was excellent, always maintaining safety on the road.
I highly recommend this tour. This was only one of the highlights of our trip to Mendoza. It was truly a bargain at any price. The mountains and scenery were spectacular and not to be missed. The guide was knowledgeable. He spoke English well and was well versed in the history of each stop. That afternoon, I went for a walk around the village. Fancy that! And…OMG was I proven right!!! The steak was pretty huge at least g , juicy and incredibly tender. The big salad that came with it organic lettuce, tomatoes, palmhearts and aragula was superb.
It was THAT good! Finally, a mind-altering Argentinian steak! My favourite square was the Plaza Espana with its gorgeous tiled floors, benches and fountains. They provide much needed shade but they also block the view of some of the supposedly stunning colonial buildings. There were also the ubiquitous sidewalk terraces and restaurants: great spots to just lounge with a glass of wine and watch the world go by!
I stopped for lunch at Trattoria Tomasso. And it was indeed superb! You can hire a bicycle, join a group or hire a taxi to shuttle you from one vineyard to the next.
I hired a taxi. Our first stop was Achaval Ferrer , about 15km from the lodge. The location of the winery was just stunning: surrounded by expansive vineyards while the terrace offered an unobstructed view of the mighty Andes. This winery offers barrel-tasting, i. We got to taste wines that had been in the barrel for a month and other wines that had been in the barrel for a year.
The wines themselves were good, but not great enough to warrant buying some and lugging the bottles back home. After two hours at Achaval Ferrer, we headed for the next winery: Ruca Malen , another winery in a gorgeous location.
This is another relatively new winery and I was given a tour of the estate, the grounds, the production area and the cellar. After lunch, we moved on to our final winery: Weinert. Founded in , Weinert is one of the oldest wineries in Mendoza. The main building is a very stately mansion and the cellars underneath were quite spectacular.
We were taken about ten meters under the ground and the very ancient-looking vaults were breathtaking. In them were row upon row of huge wooden barrels, most of which were between years old, that contained up to 60, liters of wine! A fascinating winery steeped in history. I spent my five days in Mendoza doing pretty much the same thing: leisurely strolls, long lazy lunches, exquisite dinners and lots of fine wines.
A dream! Great post!
